Collins Namachanja is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and senior partner in the firm of Namachanja & Mbugua Advocates with close to 20 years post qualification experience in high value corporate and commercial transactions, commercial litigation and arbitration law and practice.

In arbitration, Mr.Namachanja has experience both as arbitrator and as a party representative in different areas of the law including commercial, construction, insurance,intellectual property and general land law.

He also has experience in employment law, banking, insurance, intellectual property law and legislative drafting. He is currently involved in developing a legal framework for enacting of a Bill for Alternative Dispute Resolution practice in Kenya.

Mr. Namachanja is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Chartered Arbitrator; is part of the Institute’s Approved Faculty List and a Tutor with the Institute’s Kenya Branch

Mr. Mathew Kyalo Mbobu is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya of 29 years good standing. Since 1987, he has practised law right from the District Magistrate’s Courts level to the level of the Supreme Court of Kenya.

Since October, 1994, Mr. Kyalo Mbobu has been a Lecturer law at the School of Law of University of Nairobi both at the Undergraduate and Post-Graduate level. He has taught law of Contract, Evidence, Equity, Law of International Institutions and International Commercial Arbitration. He has also supervised numerous LLB dissertations and LLM thesis. Mr. Kyalo has published a legal text entitled:- The Law and Practice of Evidence in Kenya. and also contributed a chapter in a publication called Arbitration Law and Practice in Kenya. He has attended and made presentations in numerous local and international fora and symposia.

Mr. Kyalo is currently the Chairman of the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) established under the Political Parties Act, 2011. The Tribunal hears and determines disputes arising within and among political parties in Kenya.

Mr. Kyalo is also a Chartered Arbitrator of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) of London. As an arbitrator, he has participated in several local, regional and international arbitral proceedings within Kenya. Additionally, Mr. Kyalo is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK) which promotes good corporate governance within Kenya and beyond.

Dr. Kenneth Wyne Mutuma | MCIArb

Ken holds several academic qualifications including a Doctorate and Masters in Law from the University of Cape Town as well as law undergraduate degree from the University of Liverpool. He is a qualified Architect having graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Nairobi. He has extensive senior management experience across local and international settings as well as practical knowledge of interdisciplinary issues. He is currently a part of a team attached to the State Corporations Advisory Committee, working to strengthen the capacity of boards and in their primary role of providing strategic role to the national state corporations. Ken has and continues to serve as legal advisor to a range of international governments and corporate entities working to address various developmental challenges. Part of his accomplishments relate to the role he played as a regional legal advisor for the International Committee of the Red Cross, his engagements with the South African National Assembly as a legal coordinator and his work implementing a national capacity development programme on behalf of the Nelson Mandela Foundation. In addition to his responsibilities within the Firm, Ken finds fulfillment empowering upcoming students of law through his work as an academic with several universities including the University of Nairobi.



Calvin Nyachoti is by primary profession, an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. In addition, Mr. Nyachoti is a Practicing Arbitrator, Mediator and Certified Corporate Secretary (CPS(K)) with broad experience as Corporation Secretary and Head of Legal Services of various large and busy entities.


Mr. Nyachoti also consults as well as trains on various roles and sectors amongst them: retirement benefits regulation, corporate governance, institutional development and dispute resolution. As a Chartered Arbitrator, Mr. Nyachoti has handled and successfully concluded several domestic arbitrations and mediations references.


Mr. Nyachoti is the current Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya Branch) and the Chairman of the Local Authority Pensions Trust (LAPTRUST). He is also a Director of the CPS Governance Centre Limited, Founder member of the Women on Board Network, Council Member of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK) and an active member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and East Africa Law Society (EALS).


Mr. Nyachoti holds a Masters degree in Law (LLM); an MBA in Strategic Management; a Postgraduate Diploma in Law (KSL); a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB); Studies in Public International Law and Leadership and Team Skills among other qualifications.


Mr. Nyachoti brings great zeal and experience in training and working in financial and hospitality sectors in senior management, supervision, development and review of regulatory and institutional frameworks, dispute resolution, corporate governance, legal advisory and consultancy among others.



Dr. David Kariuki Muigua is a distinguished law scholar, Environmental Consultant, an
accomplished mediator and a Chartered arbitrator. He is a holder of a Ph. D in law from the
University of Nairobi and with widespread training and experience in both international and
national commercial arbitration and mediation.

He is recognised nationally and globally, with the Chambers and Partners rating him as one
of the best dispute resolvers in the country. He has been described as ‘a highly respected
arbitrator and mediator with a sterling background in commercial and constitutional cases,
as well as matters relating to the environment and natural resources.

He has on several occasions been appointed by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb)-
Kenya and other institutions as a sole arbitrator in arbitrations involving commercial disputes.



Kihara is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He holds a Diploma in Arbitration and an Advanced Certificate in Construction Adjudication. He is a member of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation and is the immediate former Chairperson of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators – Kenya Branch. He is a member of the panel of mediators of the Strathmore University Dispute Resolution Centre. Kihara is an Accredited Mediator with the Judiciary’s Mediation Accreditation Committee and was in the past engaged by the National Government to conduct a baseline survey in ADR in Kenya. He is an alumnus of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and is a Certified Public-Private Partnerships Specialist. Kihara is also the Chairperson of the Public – Private Partnerships Petition Committee, a statutory body established under the Public Private Partnerships Act 2013 of Kenya.



Paul Ngotho is a Chartered Arbitrator and Chartered Surveyor with about 30 years of experience in Kenya and the United Kingdom.

He has experience in resolving disputes in the real estate, construction, employment and insurance sectors as well as among company directors through arbitration, mediation, adjudication and expert determination. He has also acted as party representative in arbitration and tribunals. He is on the panels or lists of arbitrators in various local, continenatal and international arbitral bodies.

His expertise extends to the valuation, sale, management, leasing and selling, arranging joint ventures with respect to commercial, industrial, agricultural and residential properties.

His professional qualifications and accreditations are as follows:

• Fellow (FCIArb) of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London and Kenya Branches

• Member (MRICS), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Born 1950. Holds the degrees of LL.B (Hons), and LL.M (University of Nairobi, Kenya), a Diploma in Law (Kenya school of law) and a Diploma in international and Comparative Law of Human Rights (Institute of International and Comparative Law of Human Rights, Strasbourg, France). Is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London). Currently: Arbitrator and Legal Consultant. Previously served as senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Public Law, Faculty of Law, University of Nairobi (1978-1990); Practicing Advocate of the High Court of Kenya (1978-1994); Judge of the High Court and Court of Appeal of Kenya (1994-2004); Solicitor- General of Kenya (1996-1999); Director and Chief Executive of the Kenya Anti- Corruption Authority (KACA) (1999-2000); Director and Chief Executive of the Kenya Anti- Corruption Commission (KACC) (2004-2009).



Mr. Igeria graduated in the year 1989 from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Laws degree. Thereafter he obtained his Post-Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law and was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in 1991.  He also holds a Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) studies with United States International University (USIU) / Frankfurt school of Business and Finance.

He further is a certified company secretary, a notary public, and a commissioner for oaths. He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Arbitrator (CiArb) and the Mediation Training Institute of Kenya (MTI). He has attended several courses and trainings in his areas of expertise.

Resulting from his passion in alternative dispute resolution, Mr. Igeria is the Chairperson of the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration. He also runs an active arbitration and mediation practice, is a tutor with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya), the Mediation Training Institute, Kenya, and a mediator with the Strathmore Dispute Resolution Centre (SDRC), and an accredited mediator by the Mediation Accreditation Committee of the High Court of Kenya.

Mr. Igeria is also keenly involved in corporate governance issues and is a trainer with the Centre for Corporate Governance (CCG). He is also a member of the Institute of Directors (IOD), Kenya.

Mr. Igeria is also a member of the list of counsel entitled to practice at the International Criminal Court, (ICC) situated at The Hague, Netherlands.



Andrew is the Director of the Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution, CADR, based in Nairobi. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, (CIArb). He has acted as sole arbitrator as well as co-arbitrator in a number of arbitration cases. He also sits as an accredited mediator on the court-annexed mediation panel at the Judiciary of Kenya.

Andrew brings a broad-based expertise in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), backed by many years’ experience in global aviation and marine logistics, and business development with the proven ability to envision and create successful outcomes in complex situations. He specialises in international commercial contractual disputes including disputes arising out of bilateral and multinational investment agreements, manufacture and sale contracts, aviation, shipping, supply and distribution, commodities, shareholder and investor disputes, and is an avid proponent of Online Dispute Resolution (ODR). He consults and advises on dispute resolution mechanisms in International investment agreements (IIA), that help create an all-inclusive and enforceable global governance regime that formally  prioritizes  corporate  rights  over the  right  of  governments  to  regulate.

Andrew is an avid golfer and has served as a Golf Captain at one of Kenya’s premier golf and country clubs.



Sylvia Kasanga is a practicing Architect and Arbitrator. She holds an Undergraduate Degree in Architecture from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT) and Master’s Degree in Business Administration from United States International University – Africa (USIU-A). She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators both in United Kingdom (UK) and Kenya, vibrantly serving in the Kenyan Branch Committee. She is a RIBA Chartered Architect.

Sylvia Kasanga has been in the construction industry for 14 years. She is the Founder and Managing Director of Sycum Solutions Company Ltd, an Architectural firm based in Nairobi. She sits on the Board of Directors for the Lukenya Group of Schools and is a Trustee for the Lukenya University in Makueni County.

Currently, Sylvia is a Member of the 12th Parliament of Kenya in the capacity of Senator. Duly, she serves as a Member in the Parliamentary Committee on “Land, Environment

and National Resources”, as well as the one on “Road and Transport”. As Senator, she aspires to utilize her professional passion and expertise on; Affordable Housing,

Alternative Dispute Resolution and Education matters to advocate for formulation of SMART policies, regulations and laws on these areas.

She looks forward to working together with public servants, private practitioners, communities, and interested stakeholders to drive Kenya into Sustainable Development.
