The Institute welcomes applications from members of all professions, who while not necessarily aspiring to Fellowship or practising as an arbitrator have become involved with commercial dispute resolution as part of their primary professional role.Membership of the Institute provides a greater understanding of the procedures and practices of dispute resolution.
The Institute provides education and training to help you attain all these levels. The courses are taught by experienced arbitrators and academics. Entry is through the Associate grade. For those with little or no knowledge of dispute resolution it is necessary to complete an entry course for Associate Membership. Suitably experienced lawyers may qualify for Fellowship by completing the Fast Track Programme.
APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION AS A MEMBER OF THE CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF ARBITRATORS :
To be admitted as an Associate member of the Institute, a person must attend the Institutes two day Entry Course which is held twice every year and pass the post course Assignment following the Course. The course is advertised in the local press at least two (2) months prior to the date of commencement. Alternatively, one must have attended the Accelerated Route to Membership (ARM) or Accelerated Route to Fellowship (ARF)
After passing the Entry Course Assignment or after attendance at ARM or ARF, the applicant should arrange to collect an application form and membership regulations from the Secretariat of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Kenya Branch, located at Nicholson Drive (off Ngong Road). The completed form should be submitted to the Secretariat with:
1. A bank draft of 90 pounds plus the rate applicable as indicated in the attached schedule of subscription. Rates applicable in Kenya are on the last page of the attached document
2. A cheque of Kshs.17,500.00 being the Kenya Branchs Annual Subscription made payable to "The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Kenya Branch" for processing and transmission to London.True copies of the applicants certificate and a copy of the result sheet must be enclosed.
