About
Us
The
Kenya Branch, now with over 200 registered members, maintains a
register of knowledgeable & experienced Arbitrators and
facilitates their appointment. It also runs a secretariat with
physical facilities for Arbitration and ADR. It's a member of the
association of Professional societies in East Africa.
The
Kenya Branch maintains a strict Continuous Professional Development
(CPD) programme. In this respect it conducts lunch talks, surgeries,
workshops and seminars on relevant topics in the field of dispute
resolution. Last year successful seminars were conducted in
Arbitration and Adjudication. This Branch has a close working
relationship with International Law Institute (ILI). Further training is provided and private
study encouraged to upgrade membership to member, fellow and
Chartered Arbitrator grades. A special member course and a fast
track procedure to Fellowship are available to experienced Lawyers
and Arbitrators who have been in practise for at least ten years.
Currently the institute has members from such diverse fields as
Architecture, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, Insurance,
Accounting and Property Valuation. To further support the process of
Arbitration and ADR, the branch has published the Arbitration Rules
and Adjudication Rules which are available at the secretariat.
The
branch newsletter and the London Journal and Newsletters provide to
our membership information on the latest developments in these
fields. A file on recently decided cases is maintained at the
secretariat as part of the reference library under
development.
Membership
to the Institute is the gateway to a world-wide network of the
professionalism in dispute resolution.
